Diffusion
OBJECTIVE
Inspired by Mike Figgis' observation in In the Dark, this project is grounded in the idea that viewing a subject from multiple angles dilutes singular meaning. Just as Figgis notes how four screens “diffuse the perversity” of voyeurism, when a label or identity is broken into four visual parts, it becomes less singular, less absolute.

DESIGN PROCESS
- I began by selecting statements that suggest internal conflict or social projection. Each statement like “I can’t be an addict” or “I can’t be a liar” is paired with a visual motif meant to reflect its diffusion. My first composition, was Diffusion of Gaze, sets the tone, breaking the viewer’s gaze across layered perspectives. Subsequent graphics adopt a similar quadrant-based logic.
- Of course, what better to show diffusion than through half tone...
